Time to change the CHANGE, ensure the real CHANGE

It is time to change the CHANGE and ensure the real CHANGE. After 16 years of the disaster we suffered as a people and nation, our pains have still not eased. We are a people on a journey to greatness but we used the wrong oil to service our engine. We forgot to check and put water in the radiator of our new car. See now the consequences? Our car is over heating and black smoke coming through the exhaust. Our journey is slow, thorny and difficult.

Our driver is trying and striving but suffering to take us to our desired destination. Whenever he puts the car on the moving gear, the conductor (National Assembly) throws spanners on the wheels and the car stops moving. Many times in this journey, our conductor had betrayed the driver pouring salt into the petrol tank and knocking off our engine.

We sit painfully in the bus, sweating badly as our driver returns to town to seek a new engine to be fixed. The more he does so, the more the conductor develops new ways of knocking off the engine. We have been long on the road but we are still not even at the junction. I am afraid we may not reach home before the naming ceremony unless all of us, the passengers identify with our driver to check the wickedness of this treacherous conductor.

Sadly enough, the driver can not fire this greedy conductor because he did not hire him. Here is a driver and conductor...all of them hired by the passengers who are also owners of the vehicle now depleted and dilapidated by the wicked conductor. Unfortunately and sadly too, many of the passengers do not know that they own this bus. They hired both the driver and the conductor and only they can make both of them do their jobs right or be fired forever.

Here we are; tired, angry, pained, exhausted and frustrated passengers on a very long journey which started very well and in high spirits but betrayed many times, humiliated more times and cheated many more times by power -drunk and incurably greed-addicted conductor. Yet, we have continued to smile in this terrible bus and driving at 2 km.per hour. We have all fallen ill many times and so our driver. Often times, we take paracetamol and the driver takes panadol-extra and continue the journey only for our fever to return again. For how long can we survive this onslaught? We are sick and hungry and tired. Our driver is worst for it .

We cry daily but our conductor smiles. We are hungry and emaciated but see how fat our conductor has become. The other day, our driver collapsed and was rushed to the hospital outside our VILLAGE and throughout the days he stayed there, we remained in the bus under severe heat, acute hunger and terrific fever. Those who could not bear the heat and left the bus were consumed by beasts lurking outside.We made a mistake, a terrible mistake, we did not look before we leaped and now, there is a fatal accident and we are all fatally wounded. Only God can cure and heal us.

How will they not misbehave when they keep changing positions and we watch and follow sheepishly? A Senator in Nigeria today was either a Governor, Minister , Member of House of Representatives, Deputy Governor, SSG or some conspiring Government contractor. They have been there since the return of our democracy in 1999.

We didn't change them and we sit here asking for CHANGE? They keep changing the baton between each other. Their lives changing for the better as ours dwindle daily for the worse. We die daily for them to live. They will never be comfortable with Buhari because when he says CHANGE for the people, they shout CHANGE for themselves.

We must change them because they are not the only ones that can conduct. Nigeria is blessed with a population of over 170 million. We certainly have more than a million good leaders. Enough of the slogan. Let us change them and CHANGE will come.
We must reach home before the NAMING CEREMONY!
